Customers climb tiers you design, based on everything they earn. Here's how they move up, what each tier gives them, how you set the tiers and where customers see them.

How do customers reach a VIP tier?
Every customer starts in your base tier and moves up when their lifetime earnings reach the next tier's threshold. Everything they earn counts, from orders to sign-ups and referrals, and spending points on a reward never lowers their progress. One large order can move a customer up more than one tier at once.
Each VIP tier can multiply what customers earn when they shop, anywhere from 1× to 10×, and pay a one-time bonus when they reach it. The multiplier applies to order rewards and to product and collection bonuses. Other ways to earn, like sign-ups or birthdays, stay at the amount you set.

How do you set up VIP tiers on Shopify?
You build the tiers in Cosmo's loyalty settings in Shopify admin: up to 10 of them, each with a name, a colour, the lifetime earnings needed to reach it, a multiplier and an arrival bonus. VIP tiers work in points and store credit mode; with store credit, thresholds and bonuses are amounts of money.
In the rewards launcher and on the Rewards tab of their account, customers see their current tier, a progress bar to the next one and how much more they need, plus the full list of tiers and what each gives. After an order, the thank-you page shows their tier and any tier they just reached.

How do VIP tiers work?
Create up to 10 VIP tiers that customers reach through what they earn over time. Each tier can multiply the points earned on orders and pay a one-time bonus on arrival, and a member's tier never drops.
Can customers lose their VIP tier?
No. Once a customer reaches a VIP tier in Cosmo, they keep it. Their tier doesn't drop when they redeem points, when points expire, when a refunded order's rewards are reversed, or when you later raise a tier's threshold. The one exception is deleting a tier: its members move to the highest remaining tier their lifetime earnings reach.
What happens to existing members when I turn on VIP tiers?
Cosmo places each existing member straight into the tier their lifetime earnings already reach, without paying that tier's arrival bonus, so switching tiers on for an established program doesn't hand out a wave of bonuses at once. From then on, every tier a member reaches pays its bonus.
Do VIP tiers work with a store credit cashback program?
Yes. In store credit mode, a tier's threshold and arrival bonus are amounts of money, and its multiplier scales the store credit customers earn on orders and on product and collection bonuses. The arrival bonus is paid into their Shopify store credit like every other reward.
Do I need to edit my theme code?
No. Setup runs through a 4-step guided flow inside Shopify admin, and the customer account page is published from there. The loyalty program's product-page rewards widget is added as a block in the theme editor. No developer is required and no theme files are edited.
