FAQ

Questions Shopify merchants ask about Cosmo

Cosmo is a Shopify app with two modules: Customer Account, a branded self-service account portal, and Loyalty & Rewards, a points or cashback loyalty program. These are the questions merchants ask before installing it — setup, what shoppers can do for themselves, how the loyalty program works, what it costs, where customer data lives and who answers the support email.

Do I need this if Shopify already has customer accounts?

Shopify's built-in customer accounts let shoppers view their orders and tracking, buy again, manage their addresses and, if you switch them on, start returns and see store credit. Cosmo adds what that page leaves out: self-service order cancellation with the refund method you choose, a custom sign-up form and profile fields saved as Shopify metafields, a saved cart, your own tabs and pages inside the account, dashboard banners and product blocks, and a design you control. On Premium and Elite it also runs your loyalty program, with points or cashback, referrals, VIP tiers and rewards, from the same app instead of a second app with its own bill.

Stick with Shopify's built-in accounts if:

Your shoppers only ever check an order or update an address, you don't need self-service cancellations or extra customer data, and you don't plan to run a loyalty program.

Getting started

Installing and setting up Cosmo

What installing the app actually involves, how long it takes, and what it does not change in your store.

What is Cosmo?

Cosmo is a Shopify app from Cosmo Apps with two modules. Customer Account turns the account page into a branded self-service portal for orders, cancellations, reorders, saved carts and store credit. Loyalty & Rewards runs a points or cashback program with referrals, VIP tiers and rewards. Merchants install it from the Shopify App Store and pay one monthly plan through Shopify.

How do I install Cosmo?

Install it from the Shopify App Store listing, then follow the 4-step guided setup inside Shopify admin: choose which account features to switch on, match the portal to your storefront's branding, and publish the customer account page. Everything happens inside Shopify — there is no separate account to create and no code to paste into your theme.

How long does setup take?

About 5–10 minutes. Most of that is deciding which account features you want switched on and matching the portal's colours to your storefront — the 4 steps run one after the other in Shopify admin with no developer step in between.

Do I need to edit my theme code?

No. Setup runs through a 4-step guided flow inside Shopify admin, and the customer account page is published from there. The loyalty program's product-page rewards widget is added as a block in the theme editor. No developer is required and no theme files are edited.

Customer Account features

What Cosmo adds to the account page

The capabilities that replace a support message, and the third-party apps whose data shows up alongside them.

What can shoppers actually do in the account page?

A signed-in shopper can use order tracking, custom profile fields, store credit, saved cart & wishlist, reorder and self-service order cancellation — the things Shopify's own account page leaves out. All of it happens inside the account page, so none of it starts as a message to you. The one merchant-facing part, the analytics dashboard, sits in Shopify admin instead.

Does store credit sync with Shopify?

Yes. Store credit balances shown in the customer's account stay in sync with Shopify's native store credit, so the balance a shopper sees in the portal is the balance that applies at checkout. There is no separate credit ledger to reconcile.

Can shoppers cancel their own orders?

Yes, within the window you set. A shopper cancels an eligible order from their own account page instead of opening a ticket you have to action by hand, and anything outside that window still comes to you as it does today. Self-service order cancellation is included from the Lite plan upwards.

Which order tracking services does it read from?

Cosmo pulls live tracking from AfterShip, 17TRACK and Track123 into the branded account page, so an order's current status is already where the shopper looks first. Those are the tracking services it reads from — it is not a claim that every carrier is covered, so if yours is not on that list, email info@cosmoinfotech.com before you rely on it.

Does it work with the other apps my store already runs?

Yes — 9 of them today: AfterShip Order Tracking, 17TRACK Order Tracking, Track123 Order Tracking, CWILL Order Tracking, AfterShip Returns & Exchanges, Swym Wishlist Plus, Wishlist King, Judge.me and Appstle Subscriptions. Their data is read into the same account page, so the shopper is not redirected to another site and does not sign in a second time.

Loyalty & Rewards

How the Cosmo loyalty program works

Loyalty & Rewards is Cosmo's second module, included on the Premium and Elite plans. It runs as points or as cashback paid into Shopify store credit.

What is the Cosmo loyalty program?

Loyalty & Rewards is a points and rewards program built into Cosmo. Customers earn points, or store credit if you prefer cashback, for orders and nine other actions, climb VIP tiers that multiply what they earn, and redeem for discounts, free shipping, store credit or gift cards. It appears in a floating rewards launcher, on product and cart pages, on the thank-you page and, on Shopify Plus, inside checkout.

How do customers earn loyalty points?

Customers earn on every order (a fixed amount, a percentage of the order, or an amount per dollar spent), with optional bonuses for a first order and for products or collections you pick. They also earn for creating an account, completing their profile, adding a birthday, joining your newsletter, referring a friend and following you on Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, X or YouTube. Order points land when the order is fulfilled, on the subtotal after discounts, and are reversed on a cancellation or refund.

What rewards can customers redeem their points for?

Customers spend points on a fixed-amount discount code, a percentage-off code, free shipping, store credit or a Shopify gift card. You set what each reward costs and the minimum to redeem. Rewards expire after 90 days; Elite sets custom expiry and points expiry after inactivity.

Can I run loyalty as cashback instead of points?

Yes. Loyalty & Rewards runs in one of two modes: points that customers redeem for discount codes, free shipping, store credit or gift cards, or store credit (cashback) paid straight into the customer's Shopify store credit balance, which they spend at checkout.

How does the referral program work?

Each member gets a referral link. When a referred friend places their first qualifying order, both the friend and the member who referred them are rewarded. Customers can't refer themselves.

How do VIP tiers work?

Create up to 10 VIP tiers that customers reach through what they earn over time. Each tier can multiply the points earned on orders and pay a one-time bonus on arrival, and a member's tier never drops.

Can customers redeem points at checkout?

Yes, on Shopify Plus: customers can redeem points directly in checkout when the program runs on points. After purchase, the thank-you page shows what the order earned and any VIP tier the customer just reached.

Which plan includes the loyalty program?

Premium ($11.99 a month) and Elite ($19.99 a month). Lite ($4.99 a month) includes Customer Account only. Elite adds a Rewards tab inside the customer account, custom reward expiry and points expiry after inactivity.

Pricing and billing

What it costs and how billing works

Every plan is a flat monthly price, billed through Shopify. These are the questions that come up before the first invoice.

Is there a free trial?

Yes. Every store gets one 7-day free trial, on any plan. Billing runs through Shopify, so the trial and everything after it appear on your regular Shopify invoice.

Are there order limits or per-order charges?

No. Every Cosmo plan is a flat monthly price: Lite at $4.99, Premium at $11.99 and Elite at $19.99. There is no cap on the orders your store fulfils and no charge per order, so a busy month costs the same as a quiet one.

How does billing work?

Billing runs through Shopify and appears on your regular Shopify invoice, so there is no separate card on file with us and no second subscription to track. You can cancel at any time from your Shopify admin.

Does Cosmo offer custom pricing?

Yes. Cosmo offers custom pricing. If none of the standard plans matches what your store needs, tell us which features you want and we will price a plan around them. Email info@cosmoinfotech.com with your store's URL and the features you need.

How do I cancel?

From your Shopify admin, at any time. The subscription sits with the rest of your Shopify billing, so there is no separate account to close and no cancellation email to send. Because billing never leaves Shopify, there is also no separate card on file with Cosmo Apps to remove.
