How it works

How do you track a Shopify loyalty program?

Analytics show you the whole program at once, and the Members list takes you down to one customer.

In Shopify admin

What can you see in your loyalty analytics?

Cosmo's loyalty analytics show how your program is being used. Pick a date range to see new members and points issued, redeemed and expired, next to your redemption rate and outstanding balance. Further down, you can see which rewards and ways to earn customers actually use.

On the analytics page

  • New members, points issued and redeemed, day by day
  • Members active in the last 30, 60 and 90 days
  • Which ways to earn pay out the most
  • Which rewards customers redeem
  • Members and activity in each VIP tier
  • Referral conversion and your top referrers

What do redemption rate and outstanding balance mean in loyalty analytics?

Redemption rate is the share of issued points that have been redeemed, by amount. Outstanding balance is every member's current points added up, with their value at your conversion rate shown beside it, so you can see what your unspent points are worth. Expired points count as neither.

Can I see which customers have points they've never used?

Yes. Cosmo's Can redeem but never have list shows members whose balance clears your minimum to redeem and who have never redeemed, highest balance first. You can raise the minimum balance to focus on your biggest holders, and each name opens that member's page.

How do I find a loyalty member on Shopify?

Open Members in Cosmo's loyalty settings and search by name, email or customer ID. The list shows every customer with a loyalty account, newest first, with their balance, lifetime earnings and join date. If you run VIP tiers, you can also filter the list by tier.

What does a loyalty member's page show?

A member's page shows their balance, lifetime earnings, VIP tier and next tier, referral code, who referred them and when they joined. Below that is their full history, newest first, so when a customer asks where their points went, you can see every earn, redemption and adjustment in one place.

Can I add or remove a customer's loyalty points by hand?

Yes. On the member's page, choose Add or Remove, enter the amount and leave a note saying why, and it applies straight away with the note saved in their history. A balance can't go below zero, and added points can move a member up a VIP tier. In store credit mode, an adjustment changes their real Shopify store credit, and Shopify won't take back credit that's already spent.

Do loyalty analytics work if I run the program on store credit?

Yes, with fewer cards. In store credit mode the redemption figures drop out, because credit is spent at checkout rather than redeemed. You still see new members, credit issued, net credit after reversals, earning methods, tiers and referrals. Customers' spendable balances live in Shopify, so you'll find those there.
